Concept usability study for a coffee shop app.
During this project, I designed and researched the usability of a concept coffee shop app. I produced the project in Figma and created the wireframes, lo-fi and hi-fi prototypes. Finally, I conducted a moderated usability study to understand the effectiveness of the product.

01
Project overview
I designed a mock app that helps users schedule and order coffee from shops near them. I displayed my product research skills - particularly with usability methods. Thus, I was able to undertake core design and UX research skills. Firstly, I conducted the ideation process and brainstormed potential app ideas.
02
Understanding the user
To do background research and understand what a potential user will want, I created empathy maps, user journeys, user personas and storyboards. This research allowed me to empathise with my users and conceptualise their regular routines.

03
Starting the design
To begin the design, I created paper wireframes, digital wireframes, low-fidelity prototypes, and user flows to establish the basis of the concept app.
04
Research
I then created the research plan, goals and questions. Subsequently, I conducted a moderated usability study with open-ended questions. I recorded the participants' actions while observing their body language and listening to their responses. Afterwards, I created a spreadsheet to organise the data and then used affinity maps to analyse the data.

05
Findings and insights
Firstly, the findings indicated that the participants felt the navigation was easy. The conversion rate for the study was 100%. However, a pain point was that the users thought it was challenging to decipher different shops on the location map. Consequently, an insight for the research included incorporating more labels to indicate shop choice.
06
Takeaways
This product's impact would be that it could help users schedule coffee and save time. I learnt a lot from this project, I understand the core components of designing a prototype and undertaking technology facing research.
